In a powerful call to action for the global creator community, education pioneer Sunny Varkey has invited content creators worldwide to participate in the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign. Launched in partnership with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, MrBeast, and the 1 Billion Followers Summit, the initiative aims to inspire one billion acts of kindness across the world by harnessing the reach and influence of digital creators. With a submission deadline of 15 December 2025, the campaign blends social impact, storytelling, and the creator economy into a movement for good.

At its core, the campaign encourages creators to document and share real acts of kindness through short-form and long-form video content. These acts can range from volunteering at local shelters and visiting care homes to donating blood or supporting grassroots charities. By spotlighting everyday compassion, the initiative seeks to demonstrate how small, intentional actions can ripple outward and create meaningful change.

Creators are invited to post their videos using campaign hashtags and submit their entries through the official platform. Submissions will be reviewed by representatives from the 1 Billion Followers Summit, the Varkey Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and Beast Industries, ensuring a broad and credible evaluation process.

A global stage with real-world impact

The top 10 creators selected through the campaign will be announced at the 1 Billion Followers Summit in Dubai, taking place from 9 to 11 January 2026. Known as the world’s largest gathering of digital creators, the summit brings together voices representing billions of followers worldwide. For the chosen creators, recognition goes far beyond a stage announcement.

They will travel to Ghana alongside MrBeast to help build an entire village, including schools, access to clean water, and life-saving healthcare infrastructure. The journey will be documented and shared on MrBeast’s YouTube channel, which reaches more than 450 million subscribers globally, amplifying the campaign’s message and inspiring further acts of kindness across borders.

Education as the foundation of change

Sunny Varkey’s involvement reflects the long-standing mission of the Varkey Foundation to advance education as a driver of social transformation. Through initiatives such as the Global Teacher Prize, Global Student Prize, and Global Schools Prize, the Foundation has consistently highlighted the role of educators, students, and institutions in shaping equitable futures.

Speaking about the campaign, Varkey emphasised that education remains one of the most powerful tools for uplifting communities. By inviting creators to share stories of kindness, the initiative connects education, empathy, and digital influence into a shared purpose: expanding opportunity and hope through action.

Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, the 1 Billion Followers Summit has become a key platform for exploring how new media can fuel positive societal change. With creators now shaping culture, opinion, and behaviour at scale, the campaign underscores the responsibility and potential of digital influence when aligned with meaningful causes.

The 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign represents a rare convergence of education, philanthropy, and the creator economy. By calling on creators to lead with compassion and authenticity, Sunny Varkey and his partners are reminding the world that impact does not always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes, it starts with a single act of kindness, shared with millions, and multiplied across communities worldwide.
